Today on 16th of December 2012 i hereby declare that no i am not declaring that world is going to end , i am declaring that i no more would like to feel proud that i am an INDIAN WOMAN. Infact i am now afraid that someday some random person belonging to the opposite gender would come and rob me off my very own RIGHT TO LIVE AND ENJOY MY "WOMANHOOD". Don't think that i am making a false claim. I am being truthful. The incident which took place on the above mentioned date in Delhi and dont think that i forgot to place the prefix " the capital of India". i have dropped this title INTENTIONALLY because it is no more the capital of India , instead it has become the RAPE AND CRIME CAPITAL OF INDIA".
This year 2012 cannot be called as a great year for anyone . I don't believe in religious or similar calendars.When i say it was not a great year , i mean that India witnessed three major incidents of deteriorating condition of the indian women - the first was the incident of GUWAHATI , the second incident took place in HARYANA and the last which is not at all last but very recent THE SOUTH DELHI GANG RAPE CASE.All the cases just had a common element - to treat women and also young girls as " objects of desire". Sooner we womenfolk would surely become more' desirable objects' because of existence of practices such as female foeticide , dishonor killings ( note: they are not honor killings it is a pejorative term) domestic violence, molestation, harrasment , eve teasing , emotional exploitation , rape and murder, dowry punishment , and also an unequal pay for equal work. Did any of you took notice of''the number of sufferings' which i just listed above a woman goes through?
She is alone the creator of the world but today in this highly advance and modern century i.e, the 21st century the world of the opposite gender is grossly involved in destroying the creator.An armagedonn has erupted to make the living difficult for the female components of the society and the world. I am a liberal feminist and i respect opposite gender. But that does not imply that i will also welcome from their side anti - women actions. I shall not be providing or supporting my piece with any facts and figures because i don't think i have to provide any kind of proof for rising crimes against women , all the incidents taken place till today speak volumes for themselves and also we all are familiar with them.
It is our fundamental right to dress ourselves the way we want, to roam anywhere and at any point of time .
However this does not imply that we will outlaw. We are and will respect our laws but the provided condition is that it is hightime that our laws start respecting US. I laugh when i see my female politicians getting extremly sincere about securing political and social justice by running from pillars to poles to get bills such as reservations in promotions and foreign direct investment pass through both the houses. They call themselves the leaders of young india because they are working for securing social justice for SCs and STs. They do so in the fear that if they didn't take such initiatives they might lose their vote - banks designed on tne lines of caste and communalism. However did they ever imagine what will happen if whole of the women folk decides NOT TO VOTE AND PARTICIPATE in any election process? The womenfolk , even in minority hold the capacity of turning the fate of any election because of the fact that every single vote counts.I think we should STOP VOTING because the government has not done anything worth appraising for us.
Nobody is in the hurry of passing any bill related to women development and protection and implementing the law. All the parties want to secure their vote - banks by appeasing the castes they support and get support from.I don't feel i am living in the world's largest democracy and when i say this i also mean it.The whole political system as well as social has been oriented i a manner which is altogether " anti - women". This is a request to everyone that please don't sit shut-mouthed when you see a girl getting molested or raped or any other kind of anti women action.Stand up, gather people and open your mouth. I AM NOT EVEN SUGGESTING YOU TO GO ALONE. Just think had your sister , mother ,friend ,girlfriend or wife was there then also you had afforded to sit as a mute spectator of the incident?? Well surely not!!!!
You must have heard this saying of ganhiji many a times- Be the change you want to see, well lets do listen this time again but with a promise that you will take some action even in the passive form to help bring the change that you want to see in the world. If you help somebody's girl today then in the future your girl will also be helped by someone.
